Starting from 1 June 2012, all tourists staying in famous Lithuanian seaside resort Palanga will have to pay a new tourist tax – 1 LTL per each night spent in any city lodging.

For the money collected from this tax Palanga plans to keep the environment clean, develop infrastructure and promote activities that will take place in the city. The tax shall not impose upon children under the age of 10 years, as well as patients of rehabilitation centers and hospitals. Money will be transferred to the city budget.
