Self drive travel: Riga – Sigulda – Birini – Cesis – Bauska – Rundale – Jurmala, 7 days/ 6 nights

Day 1, Riga

• Arrival to Riga, pick-up the car at the airport;
• Check-in at the hotel (receive a map, instructions and all neccessary information for further trip).

Day 2, Riga and Open air museum

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• One day ticket to hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus and free time to explore the city;
• Afternoon visit to Ethnographic open air museum – one of the oldest and largest open-air museums in Europe. 118 old buildings from all historical districts of Latvia: farmsteads of Latvian farmers, craftsmen, and fishermen;
• Overnight at the hotel in Riga.

Day 3, Sigulda and Birini

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• Visit to Turaida castle – majectis medieval castle build in the Brick Gothic style;
• Visit to Birini castle – charming estate complex with landscape park;
• Check-in at the hotel in Sigulda.

Day 4, Cesis

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• Departure to Cesis and a visit to the ruins of Livonian medieval castle;
• Return to Riga and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5, Bauska and Rundale

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• Full day tour to Rundale castle and Bauska castle mound. Rundale castle (18th century) is the most beautiful baroque palace in the Baltics. The palace is an outstanding example of the early work of Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Bauska castle mound – pitoresque complex and former Livonian fortress;
• Optional: visit to Mezotne castle – an outstanding example of Latvian classicism that boasts the best groomed English-style landscape parks in Latvia (available only if castle doesn’t host any special event or wedding);
• Return to Riga and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6, Jurmala

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• Full day tour to Jurmala – Latvia’s most famous seaside resort with beautiful wooden architecture;
• Return to Riga and overnight.

Day 7, Departure

• Breakfast at the hotel;
• Free time for leisure;
• Departure.
